All items are donated to The Parenting Place and Donation Warehouse helps to collect, repair, clean and sell these items as a fundraiser for The Parenting Place.

They receive and have for sale donations of used furniture, appliances, junk vehicles,  yard equipment and more from individuals and supporting businesses. Donation Warehouse collects, repairs, refurbishes and sells these items at a fraction of the “new” price.

Donations are tax deductible and free pickup is available in Missoula. By donating or shopping at Donation Warehouse, you are helping us support The Parenting Place and their services.

It’s that time of year again, folks! Join Prevent Child Abuse Montana in our Pinwheels for Prevention™ Campaign to spread awareness about preventing the abuse and neglect of our nation’s children. You can participate by purchasing Pinwheels from The Parenting Place in Missoula or The Family Tree Center in Billings (co-directors of Prevent Child Abuse Montana). Our pinwheels are a national symbol of child abuse prevention and can be creatively displayed as a garden outside your agency or home.

It is a pleasure to announce the debut of Prevent Child Abuse Montana, the newest provisional chapter of Prevent Child Abuse America. It is a collaborative effort between two agencies (The Parenting Place of Missoula and Family Tree Center of Billings) across our vast state to offer the best and most accessible services possible. And, we are embarking on our first-ever event, Pinwheels for Prevention™.

For over a decade, market research consistently has shown that the public views child abuse and neglect as a national priority. As a statewide organization whose vision is “to end child abuse through strengthening families,” we must apply that research to engage all people in our state to act to prevent abuse and neglect from ever happening in the first place. Therefore, PCA MT is pleased to introduce the Pinwheels for Prevention™ campaign.

Pinwheels for Prevention™ puts a new spin on prevention in an effort to change the way Montanans think about prevention, focusing on community activities and public policies that prioritize prevention right from the start to make sure child abuse and neglect never occur. As the new symbol for child abuse prevention, the pinwheel represents hope, health and happiness – what we all desire for the children we know and love, and for all children everywhere.

PCA MT will debut a Billings Pinwheel Garden April 7th at the corner of King and 24th and a Missoula Community Pinwheel Garden in one of the windows of the old Macy’s building from March 15- June 30, 2011. Though the Missoula display will extend beyond the month of April, we encourage everyone to be part of the awareness effort during as much of April as possible. We invite all communities to participate in the campaign and establish their own local pinwheel gardens or displays. Shining in the sun, reflective of the bright futures all children deserve, Pinwheels for Prevention™ will provide individuals and organizations alike with the opportunity to take action by learning more, lending their voice, volunteering or donating.

Join us in creating awareness of how important strengthening families is in each of our communities. Order your pinwheels and develop a plan for your “garden” to be ready to display during the month of April. Ideas for how many pinwheels you’ll need may come from what you want them to represent: plant a pinwheel for every child born last year to show support for their healthy, safe development; plant a pinwheel for every child in your child care facility or school; plant a pinwheel for every child you serve in your prevention program or organization. Ideal places to plant pinwheel gardens include near your mailbox, in your front yard, at your church or school, or in front of a business or community building. They can also be used as displays in windows, on walls or any other creative ways you may want to try.
